We love Dads. They're pretty special guys and we're definitely grateful for the Dad's who have helped shape our lives here around Blickenstaff's. We know your Dad is a special guy too so we want to reward him! He deserves it, right?!

In case you didn't know - today is Flag Day! It's is not technically an official holiday, but is still a day observed and recognized nationwide. We are so grateful for the sacrifices of those who have gone before us to help establish a free nation like the one we enjoy.

To celebrate Flag Day here are a few fun facts you might now have know about our Star Spangled Banner...

*Our flag has several nicknames: Old Glory, Star spangled Banner
*On June 14, 1777, the Continental Congress replaced the British symbols of the Grand Union flag with a new design featuring 13 white stars in a circle on a field of blue and 13 red and white stripes
*This flag may have been made by the Philadelphia seamstress Betsy Ross, who was an official flag maker for the Pennsylvania Navy.
*For a brief period of time the number of stripes changed to 15 - but was later returned to the original 13.
*The President is requested to issue each year a proclamation to: call on government officials in the USA to display the flag of the United States on all government buildings on Flag Day.
*Flag Day did not become official until August 1949, when President Harry Truman signed the legislation and proclaimed June 14 as Flag Day.

We're pretty lucky to work in such a FUN store! Toys, candy, games and awesome decor everywhere we turn! It is amazing to watch kids, parents and grandparents eyes as they walk into the store and are magically transported into a world of fun.

We had the opportunity the other night to take our FUN to an amazing group of people who don't have a lot of opportunities to get out anymore.

We put together a Game Night over at the Jamestown Courtyard Senior Center!
It was such a special experience!

We grabbed a bunch of our favorite games and favorite candy and headed over to meet up with a fantastic group of Seniors as well as several BYU wards and a group of volunteers from the Timpview High School Student Council! We had an incredible turnout - check it out!!

We broke into several groups. One of our groups stayed in the main hall and played a variety of our awesome board games. A second group actually headed over to the Alzheimers wing to play volleyball!

It was SO much fun getting to talk with the residents and play some games. There is something really special about talking with these great individuals. They all have such unique and fun backgrounds. We want to say thanks to the Jamestown Courtyard and the residents for letting us come spend an evening with them. We had an amazing time and we're hopeful that we can do this again real soon!

Virignia was just one of the many residents we had a chance to spend some time with! SO much fun!!

This is seriously one of my favorite times of the year! March Madness is right around the corner! I've loved filling out brackets since I was a kid and the excitement hasn't dropped off at all. Looks like BYU will make the tournament (fingers crossed) but without Jimmer will they make it out of the first round? I'm excited just thinking about it!

Last year we did a March (candy) Madness bracket. With 64 candies battling it out, it was a lot of fun to see who you guys liked the most. This year we're going to make it a little bit simpler and we're going to give away even more candy!

Here's how the madness will work this year...

There are 2 ways to win prizes:
1. Fill out a bracket. (print it off online, or pick one up from the store) The bracket needs to be turned in by 9:00 pm on March 12. If your bracket is the closest to the actual results you will win a $50 candy basket!

2. Visit us on Facebook each day and vote for your favorite candy! We will have several candies battling it out each day beginning March 13. Leave a comment voting for your favorite and we will choose one commenter to win (1lb.) of candy. We will be giving away (1lb.) every weekday throughout the ENTIRE tournament!

It's easy and SO much fun! We had such a great response last year that we're excited to do it again this year with more chances to win and an even simpler layout!

Get your bracket filled out and turned in ASAP and then come visit us on Facebook when the tournament starts on March 13!
