  • Panic on Wall Street

    Remember Masters of Commerce?
The game created right here in Provo by local resident, Britton Roney!

Well, the game was picked up by a distributor, given a bit of a redesign and is back on shelves as, "Panic on Wall Street".

The updated version was recently reviewed by The Dice Tower, a huge game review website. Check out the great things they have to say about this local game!

Congratulations Britton on the great review!

  • Tenzi!

The beginning of March is like a second Christmas here at the store. All of the new items we found at the toy fair start coming in and every day is exciting as we see new shipments arrive.

There's one shipment I've been really excited for because I remember how much fun I had at the booth in NY.

    Drumroll please....

    TENZI!

Tenzi "The World's Fastest Game" has just arrived!

This game could literally been done in under a minute - as long as the dice fall in your favor!

    How to play:
*Everyone in the group gets a set of 10 dice
*Start the timer and begin rolling until you've got all ten dice showing the same number.
*The first to finish and yell Tenzi is the winner!

Example: If I roll four 6's on my first roll then I would quickly gather my other dice and reroll hoping to get another few 6's to show up. If I see two more then I add them to my pile of 6's and continue rolling until all ten dice show the number 6.

While we were at the toy fair they had a big stopwatch that was used to time us in our efforts to reach Tenzi! It was fun playing with other people - but man I really enjoyed the race against the clock!!

We were lucky enough to interview one of the Executive Dice Presidents, Steve Mark! We asked him a couple questions about the game...

Where did the idea for Tenzi come from?

After coming up with various board games, we decided to try our hand at a dice game. Specifically, a fast game! Kevin and I both have families, kids, etc so the prospect of sitting down to a 2-hour board game was what we didn't want to create. We kept adding dice till we got to 10 (a nice round number). The game sort of invented itself from there.

What made you decide on the name Tenzi?

The name is inspired by an ancient Asian cultural-- no just kidding -- onesie's, twosie's, threesie's, foursie's, etc got us to TENZI.

Are there plans for any future games or have you guys done any other game?

Of course, always something brewing in the R&D of our minds!

We can't wait to see what these guys come up with next - but for now you definitely need to stop by Blickenstaff's to try out this awesome game. We're going to make things interesting and offer a giveaway of this great game! Leave a comment here or on our Facebook page telling us what the tag line for this awesome game is! (hint: it's near the beginning of the post)

  • Melissa & Doug- the NEW Stuff!

We've been back from the NY Toy Fair for almost 2 weeks now and the new items have begun to trickle in...

Although in the case of our new Melissa & Doug items, I don't think trickle is the best word to use. That pic only shows half of the boxes sitting in the backroom right now. Heidi is working her way diligently through all of the boxes to get the new items to the floor right away!

Check out some of the great new things we picked up...

That's not even close to being all of the new things we've brought in! Melissa & Doug is awesome! They just keep coming out with great new things so we just keep picking them up so you can have them!

  • Masters of Commerce Toy Review

Quick question, do you know the name of the game that was the talk of the German Toy Fair (one of the most renowned international fairs) this year?

I'll give you a hint. It was created by 2 cousins that live right here in Provo, Utah.

    Still not sure?

    Masters of Commerce!

This fast paced game of buying and selling is reminiscent of Pit but adds several elements that make it an exceptionally fun game of negotiation!

There are landlords and merchants in this game and your goal is to secure properties for the best price (landlords want more money while renters are trying to keep costs down). You've got to negotiate quickly because time is limited and once the timer ends the prices are locked in.

Roll the market dice and watch as values shoot up or implode and leave you with severe losses!

Your goal is to negotiate the best deals and hope the dice are in your favor so that you can take home more money than the competition.

My favorite part of the game? The negotiation phase. This is chaotic as people are underbidding others to secure certain lots and trying to drive up the costs of others to secure greater profits.

For a more detailed look check out this in depth interview one of the creators, Britton Roney did with Boar Game Geek at the Nuremberg Toy Fair!

We're going to be giving away a copy of Masters of Commerce to (1) lucky reader! Leave a comment here or on Facebook telling us why your family would love this game and we'll choose a winner on Monday!
