Calico Critters are one of the most beloved collectible toy lines in the world — and at Blickenstaffs in Provo, Utah, they have been a consistent top seller for years. If you are new to Calico Critters or looking to grow a collection, this guide is for you.

What Are Calico Critters?

Calico Critters are highly detailed, posable miniature animal families with accessories, playsets, and homes. Made by Epoch, they have incredibly fine detail and are designed for imaginative small-world play. They are perfect for ages 3-12.

Where to Start

Blind Bags — The Best Entry Point

The Calico Critters Collectibles Baby Blind Bags are our number one selling Calico Critters product. Each bag contains a surprise baby critter. At an affordable price they are perfect for first-time buyers, gift-givers, and kids who love the excitement of not knowing what they will get.

Family Sets

Calico Critters come in family packs — typically a mother, father, and children. Some of our most popular families include the Marshmallow Mouse Family, Dalmatian Family, and Sheep Family. Each family comes with accessories and is perfect for starting a collection.

Playsets and Homes

Once you have some critters, the homes and playsets bring them to life. From the Sweet Raspberry Home starter house to the Lakeside Lodge Gift Set, these playsets connect to each other to build an entire Critter village.

Tips for Buying Calico Critters

Start with a blind bag and a family set for the best introduction. Check if the set comes with accessories — many gift sets are great value. Critters from different sets can mix and match, so there is no wrong way to build a collection.
